**Centrosomal protein of 192 kDa**, also known as **Cep192**, is a [protein](/source/Protein) that in humans is encoded by the *CEP192* [gene](/source/Gene).[5][6] It is the homolog of the [C. elegans](/source/Caenorhabditis_elegans) and [D. melanogaster](/source/Drosophila_melanogaster) gene SPD-2.[7]

Cep192 is a major regulator of [pericentriolar material](/source/Pericentriolar_material) recruitment, [centrosome](/source/Centrosome) maturation, and [centriole](/source/Centriole) duplication in [mammalian](/source/Mammal) cells.[7] It stimulates the formation of the scaffolding upon which [gamma tubulin](/source/Gamma_tubulin) ring complexes and other proteins involved in [microtubule nucleation](/source/Microtubule_nucleation) and [spindle assembly](/source/Spindle_apparatus) become functional during [mitosis](/source/Mitosis).[8]
