A **CEN Workshop Agreement** (commonly abbreviated CWA) is a reference document from the [European Committee for Standardization](/source/European_Committee_for_Standardization) (CEN). It is, by definition, not an official standard from the member organizations.

In the field of [electronic signatures](/source/Electronic_signatures), several CWAs exist. In July 2003[1] the [European Commission](/source/European_Commission) granted the following three CWAs status as generally recognized technical standards, presumed to be in accordance with the [Electronic Signatures Directive](/source/Electronic_Signatures_Directive) (1999/93/EC):

- [CWA 14167-1](ftp://ftp.cen.eu/CEN/Sectors/TCandWorkshops/Workshops/eSIGN_CWAs/cwa14167-01-2003-Jun.pdf)[*[dead link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Link_rot)*] (June 2003): security requirements for trustworthy systems managing certificates for electronic signatures — Part 1: System Security Requirements

- [CWA 14167-2](ftp://ftp.cen.eu/CEN/Sectors/TCandWorkshops/Workshops/eSIGN_CWAs/cwa14167-02-2004-May.pdf)[*[dead link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Link_rot)*] (March 2004): security requirements for trustworthy systems managing certificates for electronic signatures — Part 2: [cryptographic](/source/Cryptographic) module for [CSP](/source/Cryptographic_Service_Provider) signing operations — Protection Profile (MCSO-PP)

- [CWA 14169](ftp://ftp.cen.eu/CEN/Sectors/TCandWorkshops/Workshops/eSIGN_CWAs/cwa14169-00-2004-Mar.pdf)[*[dead link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Link_rot)*] (March 2004): [secure signature creation devices](/source/Secure_signature_creation_device).

Other CWA deals with e-signature; among them:

- [CWA 14170](ftp://ftp.cenorm.be/PUBLIC/CWAs/e-Europe/eSign/cwa14170-00-2004-May.pdf)[*[dead link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Link_rot)*] Signature Creation Process and Environment.

- [CWA 14171](ftp://ftp.cenorm.be/PUBLIC/CWAs/e-Europe/eSign/cwa14171-00-2004-May.pdf)[*[dead link](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Link_rot)*] Signature Validation Process and Environment.
