The **Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services for Export** (**CAMESE**) is a [Mississauga](/source/Mississauga)-based [trade organization](/source/Trade_organization) supporting the [export](/source/Export) of [Canadian](/source/Canada) [mining](/source/Mining) exploration equipment and services to [mining companies](/source/Mining_companies) around the world. The organization introduces foreign [mining companies](/source/Mining_companies) to Canadian suppliers by publicizing the expertise and success of domestic mining technologies and mining operations.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Traditionally assisting with market development in the [Americas](/source/Americas) and [Russia](/source/Russia), CAMESE is making new efforts to support Canadian mining exporters in [India](/source/India)[7][8][9][10] and other Asian countries.[11]

CAMESE also supports [foreign direct investment](/source/Foreign_direct_investment) in Canadian mining operations.[12][13]

## Services

CAMESE organizes and participates in mining trade shows (such as internationally known annual [Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada](/source/Prospectors_%26_Developers_Association_of_Canada) (PDAC) in [Toronto](/source/Toronto), see[14]), industry networking events,[15][16] policy roundtables,[17][18] and publishes an Annual Compendium of Canadian mining equipment suppliers and service companies (Compendium of Canadian Mining Suppliers request form at [http://www.camese.org/request.cfm](http://www.camese.org/request.cfm)), digital version viewable at [http://www.camese.org/current](http://www.camese.org/current) [Archived](https://web.archive.org/web/20170418214356/http://www.camese.org/current/) 2017-04-18 at the Wayback Machine

Services are provided in [English](/source/English_language), [French](/source/French_language), and [Spanish](/source/Spanish_language), covering the languages of the major mining areas in [North America](/source/North_America), and [South America](/source/South_America).

## Membership

More than 250 equipment suppliers, manufacturers and service providers are members of the organization,[19] including [Export Development Canada](/source/Export_Development_Canada) (EDC), [Geosoft](/source/Geosoft), Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP ([Gowlings](/source/Gowlings)), Phoenix Geophysics, the [Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada](/source/Prospectors_%26_Developers_Association_of_Canada) (PDAC), and [Hatch](/source/Hatch_Ltd)[19] Together, these companies represent a significant portion of the Canadian mine services and mining exploration industry, in turn representing thousands of [technicians](/source/Technician), [engineers](/source/Engineer), [geologists](/source/Geologist), and [geophysicists](/source/Geophysicist) and millions of dollars of export revenue each year. Much of this employment is located in [Northern Ontario](/source/Northern_Ontario), well known for its large [mineral](/source/Mineral) deposits (especially of [nickel](/source/Nickel)) and extraction programmes by major mining companies including [Vale](/source/Vale_Limited) and [Glencore](/source/Glencore_Canada).

In turn, CAMESE is a member of the [Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada](/source/Prospectors_%26_Developers_Association_of_Canada) (PDAC).[20]

## History

Founded in 1981 by Canadian mining exporters operating in [Lima](/source/Lima), [Peru](/source/Peru), CAMESE celebrated its 25th year of industry advocacy and support in 2006.[21] Membership has grown since the early 1990s, and CAMESE has become the leading Canadian mining equipment and services export association.

## Funding

Funding for CAMESE is provided by annual membership dues, grants from the Canadian federal government [EDC](/source/Export_Development_Canada),[22][23] and grants from the [Ontario](/source/Ontario) provincial government.[24]
