Portions of Bushkill were seized by the [United States government](/source/United_States_government) during the [controversial Tocks Island Dam project](/source/Tocks_Island_Dam_Controversy) and are now part of the [Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area](/source/Delaware_Water_Gap_National_Recreation_Area).[2]

Bushkill's transportation options are somewhat limited. It is served by [Monroe County Transit Authority](/source/Monroe_County_Transit_Authority)'s Yellow Line, and the [Port Jervis Station](/source/Port_Jervis_station) just above the border of the [State of New York](/source/New_York_(state)) and [Pennsylvania](/source/Pennsylvania), where [U.S. Route 209](/source/U.S._Route_209) enters New York. The station is the terminal station of [Metro-North Railroad](/source/Metro-North_Railroad)'s [Port Jervis Line](/source/Port_Jervis_Line), and it is operated by [NJ Transit](/source/NJ_Transit). NJ Transit plans to reopen the [East Stroudsburg Station](/source/East_Stroudsburg_station) in nearby [East Stroudsburg](/source/East_Stroudsburg%2C_Pennsylvania).
