==Geography==

Busani is one of the major lakes of the [Baunt Depression](/source/Baunt_Depression), below the southern foothills of the [Southern Muya Range](/source/Southern_Muya_Range).<ref name="ЭСБЕ">[http://bse.sci-lib.com/article112791.html Busani] / ''[Great Soviet Encyclopedia](/source/Great_Soviet_Encyclopedia):'' in 30 vols. / Ch. ed. [A.M. Prokhorov](/source/A.M._Prokhorov). - 3rd ed. - M. Soviet Encyclopedia, 1969-1978.</ref> The lake area belongs to the "Tsipo-Tsipikansky" (Ципо-Ципиканских) lake group —named after rivers [Tsipa](/source/Tsipa) and [Tsipikan](/source/Tsipikan_(river)), which is also known as Bauntovsky (Баунтовских) —after neighboring lake [Baunt](/source/Baunt).<ref name="WM">[https://ozera.info/russia/so/buryatia/busani-2 Catalog of lakes - Busani]</ref>

The lake is located at the northwestern corner of the [Vitim Plateau](/source/Vitim_Plateau), east of lake Baunt. It is a triangular-shaped lake, crossed by the Mogoi river, which connects it with river [Tsipa](/source/Tsipa).<ref name="GЕ">[Google Earth](/source/Google_Earth)</ref><ref name="STM">{{cite web|url=https://maps.vlasenko.net/smtm1000/n-49.jpg|title=N-49 Chart (in Russian)|access-date=9 October 2021}}</ref> On the southwestern coast there is a [hot spring](/source/hot_spring).<ref>[http://reass.ru/resort/114-respublika-buryatiya-ozero-busani-termalnyy-istochnik.html Республика Бурятия. The middle of the lake has a section stretching from north to south of irregular-shaped islands and peninsulas with deeply indented shorelines. The village of [Busani](/source/Busani%2C_Republic_of_Buryatia) is located in that area.<ref name="GЕ"/>
