# Burrelton

**Burrelton** is a small village in [Scotland](/source/Scotland) about 12 miles (19 kilometres) outside [Perth](/source/Perth,_Scotland). It is joined onto another smaller village, [Woodside](/source/Woodside,_Perth_and_Kinross).[1] The population in 2001 was 621.[2]

## Education

The village is home to a small primary school called Burrelton Primary School.[3] Pupils typically progress to one of the associated high schools, [Perth Academy](/source/Perth_Academy), or Blairgowie High School.[4]

## Transportation

[Woodside and Burrelton railway station](/source/Woodside_and_Burrelton_railway_station) was opened by the [Caledonian Railway](/source/Caledonian_Railway), on the former [Scottish Midland Junction Railway](/source/Scottish_Midland_Junction_Railway), running between [Perth](/source/Perth_railway_station_(Scotland)) and [Arbroath](/source/Arbroath_railway_station). It became part of the [London, Midland and Scottish Railway](/source/London,_Midland_and_Scottish_Railway) during the [Grouping](/source/Railways_Act_1921) of 1923. Passing on to the [Scottish Region of British Railways](/source/Scottish_Region_of_British_Railways) on [nationalisation](/source/Nationalisation) in 1948, it was then closed by the [British Transport Commission](/source/British_Transport_Commission).[5]
