# Buiza

**Buiza** is a [Spanish](/source/Spain) town in the municipality of [La Pola de Gordón](/source/La_Pola_de_Gord%C3%B3n), in the [Province of León](/source/Province_of_Le%C3%B3n) and the region of [Montaña Central](/source/Monta%C3%B1a_Central), in the [autonomous community](/source/Autonomous_communities_of_Spain) of [Castile and León](/source/Castile_and_Le%C3%B3n).

## Background

One of the ancient routes of the [Camino de Santiago](/source/Camino_de_Santiago) passes through this town, which to this day has been forgotten, and which from [Boñar](/source/Bo%C3%B1ar) deviated north towards [Ranedo de Curueño](/source/Ranedo_de_Curue%C3%B1o), to arrive via [Correcillas](/source/Correcillas) and [Villalfeide](/source/Villalfeide), to [Vegacervera](/source/Vegacervera), [Coladilla](/source/Coladilla), Valle and Villar, going down the [Faedo](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faedo_de_Ci%C3%B1era) to [Ciñera](/source/Ci%C3%B1era) and [La Vid](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Vid_(La_Pola_de_Gord%C3%B3n)), and once crossing the town of Buiza, it continued to [Beberino](/source/Beberino) and [La Pola de Gordón](/source/La_Pola_de_Gord%C3%B3n), to join again at [Otero de las Dueñas](/source/Otero_de_las_Due%C3%B1as), towards [Ponferrada](/source/Ponferrada).

Located on the Mongrande stream and the Villafreo stream, tributaries of the Folledo stream, and this in turn of the Casares river, a tributary of the [Bernesga](/source/Bernesga).

The lands of Buiza border with those of [Rodiezmo de la Tercia](/source/Rodiezmo_de_la_Tercia), [Ventosilla de la Tercia](/source/Ventosilla_de_la_Tercia) and [Villamanín](/source/Villaman%C3%ADn) to the north, [Villasimpliz](/source/Villasimpliz) to the northeast, [La Vid de Gordón](/source/La_Vid_de_Gord%C3%B3n) and [Ciñera](/source/Ci%C3%B1era) to the east, [Santa Lucía de Gordón](/source/Santa_Luc%C3%ADa_de_Gord%C3%B3n) and [Vega de Gordón](/source/Vega_de_Gord%C3%B3n) to the southeast, [Beberino](/source/Beberino) to the south, [Cabornera](/source/Cabornera) and [Paradilla de Gordón](/source/Paradilla_de_Gord%C3%B3n) to the southwest, [Folledo](/source/Folledo) to the west and [Viadangos de la Tercia](/source/Viadangos_de_la_Tercia), [Poladura de la Tercia](/source/Poladura_de_la_Tercia) and [San Martín de la Tercia](/source/San_Mart%C3%ADn_de_la_Tercia) to the northwest.

It belonged to the old [Concejo de Gordón](/source/Concejo_de_Gord%C3%B3n).
