# Buddy Lively

**Everett Adrian Lively** (February 14, 1925 – July 12, 2015), nicknamed "**Red**", was an American professional [baseball player](/source/Baseball_player). He was a right-handed [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) over parts of three seasons (1947–49) with the [Cincinnati Reds](/source/Cincinnati_Reds). For his career, he compiled an 8–13 record, with a 4.16 [earned run average](/source/Earned_run_average), and 94 [strikeouts](/source/Strikeout) in 249 innings pitched. He was born in [Birmingham, Alabama](/source/Birmingham,_Alabama) and is the son of former [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) player [Jack Lively](/source/Jack_Lively).

Prior to his entry into Major League Baseball, Lively served in the [United States Army](/source/United_States_Army) with the anti-aircraft battalion part of General [George S. Patton](/source/George_S._Patton)'s [Third Army](/source/United_States_Army_Central), fighting in France and Belgium in [Europe](/source/European_Theater_of_Operations) from [1944–46](/source/World_War_II).[1]

He died in [Huntsville, Alabama](/source/Huntsville,_Alabama) on July 12, 2015.[2]
