**Bryce Wilson** (born October 7, 1972) is an American [record producer](/source/Record_producer), [entrepreneur](/source/Entrepreneur) and [actor](/source/Actor). He was one half of the 1990s duo [Groove Theory](/source/Groove_Theory), and a former member of the [dance](/source/Dance_music)/[electro](/source/Electro_(music)) hip-hop group [Mantronix](/source/Mantronix).

## Mantronix MC and keyboardist

Main article: [Mantronix](/source/Mantronix)

Following the departure of [electro-funk](/source/Electro_(music))/[hip hop](/source/Old_school_hip_hop) group [Mantronix](/source/Mantronix)'s original rapper [MC Tee](/source/MC_Tee), Wilson (then known as Bryce "Luvah" or MC Luvah), and [D.J. D](/source/D.J._D), the cousin of the remaining Mantronix member [Kurtis Mantronik](/source/Kurtis_Mantronik), joined Mantronix for 1990's *[This Should Move Ya](/source/This_Should_Move_Ya)*. The album spawned two top-10 hits on the [UK Singles Chart](/source/UK_Singles_Chart), "[Got to Have Your Love](/source/Got_to_Have_Your_Love)" at No. 4, and "Take Your Time" at No. 10. In the United States, the album reached No. 61 on the [Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums](/source/Hot_R%26B%2FHip-Hop_Songs) chart.[2] Wilson was the primary rapper on all of the rap-based tracks that appeared on the album, and was responsible for the lyrical content.

Mantronix's final release, with vocalist [Jade Trini](/source/Jade_Trini_Goring) replacing D.J. D, was *[The Incredible Sound Machine](/source/The_Incredible_Sound_Machine)* in 1991.[3] *The Incredible Sound Machine*, which tended to favor [new jack swing](/source/New_jack_swing) and [house music](/source/House_music) over hip hop, was considered both a critical and commercial disappointment.[3] Shortly after the tour and promotion related to the release of *The Incredible Sound Machine*, Mantronix disbanded.[4]

## Groove Theory

Main article: [Groove Theory](/source/Groove_Theory)

Following the demise of Mantronix, Wilson paired with [Amel Larrieux](/source/Amel_Larrieux) to form the duo [Groove Theory](/source/Groove_Theory). In [1995](/source/1995_in_music), the group released its self-titled debut album *[Groove Theory](/source/Groove_Theory_(album))*. The album featured the hit, [gold](/source/Music_recording_sales_certification) certified single "[Tell Me](/source/Tell_Me_(Groove_Theory_song))" which reached #5 on the [*Billboard* Hot 100](/source/Billboard_Hot_100) and #3 on the [R&B chart](/source/Hot_R%26B%2FHip-Hop_Songs).

The Makeda Davis-Bryce Wilson Groove Theory line-up released one [EP](/source/Extended_play), *4 Shure*, in [2000](/source/2000_in_music), which was the last recording released by the group.[5]

## Record producer

In [1996](/source/1996_in_music), he collaborated with [Babyface](/source/Kenneth_%22Babyface%22_Edmonds), and the two co-produced "[You're Makin' Me High](/source/You're_Makin'_Me_High)," a smash hit single for [Toni Braxton](/source/Toni_Braxton) that went #1 on both the [R&B](/source/Hot_R%26B%2FHip-Hop_Songs) and [Pop](/source/Billboard_Hot_100) charts. He also appeared in the video as Toni's love interest. Wilson received a Grammy Award nomination for [Best R&B Song](/source/Grammy_Award_for_Best_R%26B_Song).[6] Wilson produced for [Brandy](/source/Brandy_(entertainer))'s fifth studio album, released in 2008. Bryce has achieved two Billboard number ones as a writer in 2015, [Secondcity](/source/Secondcity)'s "[I Wanna Feel](/source/I_Wanna_Feel)", which went #1 in the UK and No. 2 on *Billboard* dance charts and [Wale](/source/Wale_(rapper))'s "The Glass Egg".[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]
