***Bryanthus*** is a [monotypic](/source/Monotypic_taxon) genus of [ornamental plant](/source/Ornamental_plant) in the flowering plant family [Ericaceae](/source/Ericaceae), with the sole species ***Bryanthus musciformis***, native to [Japan](/source/Japan), [Kamchatka](/source/Kamchatka_Peninsula), and the [Kuril Islands](/source/Kuril_Islands).[2] The genus was created in 1769.[3] In 2012, the new [tribe](/source/Tribe_(biology)) [Bryantheae](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bryantheae&action=edit&redlink=1) was proposed based on genetic analysis, containing the genera *Bryanthus* and *[Ledothamnus](/source/Ledothamnus)*.[4]
