==Music career==
Arriving in the UK in the mid-1970s, Lynch became a commercially successful [session musician](/source/session_musician), touring extensively with [Cat Stevens](/source/Cat_Stevens), including Stevens's 1976 Earth Tour as a [sideman](/source/sideman) that was recorded as the album/DVD, ''[Majikat](/source/Majikat)'', released in 2004; he appeared on six of Steven's albums. His wife [Suzanne Lynch](/source/Suzanne_Lynch) sang backing vocals for much of this time. He also recorded on two albums for [Richard Thompson](/source/Richard_Thompson_(musician)), and an album with [Rick Wakeman](/source/Rick_Wakeman){{R| "AllMusic"}} as well as on [Chris Rea](/source/Chris_Rea)'s 1980 album [''Tennis''](/source/Tennis_(album)) and on [Kate Bush](/source/Kate_Bush)'s [debut album](/source/The_Kick_Inside). While in the UK, he was also an early member of British [jazz fusion](/source/jazz_fusion) band [Morrissey–Mullen](/source/Morrissey%E2%80%93Mullen), together with fellow New Zealand session musician [Frank Gibson, Jr.](/source/Frank_Gibson%2C_Jr.) on drums.
Returning to New Zealand in 1981, he started arranging and orchestrating for New Zealand television and jazz ensembles. He later became a record producer, producing, amongst others, [Kiri te Kanawa](/source/Kiri_te_Kanawa)'s ''[Maori Songs](/source/Maori_Songs)'' album, "[(Glad I'm) Not a Kennedy](/source/(Glad_I'm)_Not_a_Kennedy)" by [Shona Laing](/source/Shona_Laing), and receiving two [New Zealand Music Awards](/source/New_Zealand_Music_Awards): in 1981 as Producer of the Year for ''[Dave McArtney](/source/Dave_McArtney) and the Pink Flamingos'', and in 1986 as Best Producer, for ''[Peking Man](/source/Peking_Man_(band))''.
On 18 September 2020 Yusuf/[Cat Stevens](/source/Cat_Stevens) released ''[Tea for the Tillerman 2](/source/Tea_for_the_Tillerman_2)'', a reimagining and re-recording of his 1970 album ''[Tea for the Tillerman](/source/Tea_for_the_Tillerman)''. Bruce's son, [Andy Lynch](/source/Andy_Lynch_(musician)), is also a well known guitarist. He has played with [Sting](/source/Sting_(musician)) and was formerly the lead guitarist for the band, [Zed](/source/Zed_(band)). He currently plays with the New Zealand band, [Atlas](/source/Atlas_(rock_band)). He scored several [Power Rangers](/source/Power_Rangers) series after the show's production moved to [Auckland](/source/Auckland).
