== Career ==
Keyter won the [Natal Open](/source/Natal_Open) as an amateur in 1954. In 1955, he turned professional. Keyter began his career as an assistant professional at Royal Durban Country Club.<ref name=":0">{{Cite news |url=http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/72536927 |title=Locke beaten |date=20 February 1956 |newspaper=The Argus}}</ref> His first victory as a pro was at the 1956 [Transvaal Open](/source/Transvaal_Open) where he defeated South African legend [Bobby Locke](/source/Bobby_Locke) by a shot.
