He was born in 1947, educated at the [University of King's College](/source/University_of_King's_College) and [ordained](/source/ordained) in Nova Scotia in 1974. After working in the [Anglican Diocese of Toronto](/source/Anglican_Diocese_of_Toronto), he returned to Nova Scotia for several years, after which he returned to Ontario in 1988 as [Dean of Huron](/source/Dean_of_Huron) and Rector of [St. Paul's Cathedral](/source/St._Paul's_Cathedral_(London%2C_Ontario)). He was elected the 11th [Bishop of Huron](/source/Bishop_of_Huron) in 2000.
