# Brockius

***Brockius*** is a genus of [labrisomid](/source/Labrisomid) [blennies](/source/Blenniiformes) from the waters of the eastern Pacific and the western Atlantic where they are associated with reefs and seaweed-covered rocks.

## Taxonomy

The name *Brockius* was coined by Clark L. Hubbs as a [subgenus](/source/Subgenus) of *[Labrisomus](/source/Labrisomus)* but has been raised to a genus in its own right.[3]

## Etymology

The generic name honours the [ichthyologist](/source/Ichthyologist) and [herpetologist](/source/Herpetologist) [Vernon E. Brock](/source/Vernon_E._Brock) (1912-1971) who collected the [type](/source/Type_(biology)) of *B. striatus*.[4]
