The '''Breydon Bridge''' is a single-span [drawbridge](/source/drawbridge) carrying the [A47](/source/A47_road_(England)) [Great Yarmouth](/source/Great_Yarmouth) bypass across the [River Yare](/source/River_Yare) close to [Breydon Water](/source/Breydon_Water). It follows the route of the former railway [Breydon Viaduct](/source/Breydon_Viaduct) which was closed in 1953 and was demolished by 1963. Completed in 1985, an average of 31,000 vehicles cross the bridge each day.<ref>{{Cite web |last=Hakimian |first=Rob |date=2023-12-20 |title='Technically challenging' upgrade of A47 Breydon Bridge in Great Yarmouth completed |url=https://www.newcivilengineer.com/latest/technically-challenging-upgrade-of-a47-breydon-bridge-in-great-yarmouth-completed-20-12-2023/ |access-date=2023-12-27 |website=New Civil Engineer |language=en}}</ref>

When built in 1985, the bridge was allocated the road number [A12](/source/A12_road_(England)), which ran from London to [Great Yarmouth](/source/Great_Yarmouth) via [Lowestoft](/source/Lowestoft) and [Ipswich](/source/Ipswich)/[A14](/source/List_of_A14_roads). In February 2017, the [A12](/source/A12_road_(England)) from Great Yarmouth to Lowestoft was reallocated the number [A47](/source/A47_road) as a Southern extension of the latter road. This left the Breydon Bridge carrying the number [A47](/source/A47_road) which continues to [Lowestoft](/source/Lowestoft) before terminating at the [Gull Wing Bridge](/source/Gull_Wing_Bridge), where it then links to the [A12](/source/A12_road_(England)).
