Tett was born in [Vancouver, Washington](/source/Vancouver%2C_Washington), on May 26, 1987, and attended [Sam Barlow High School](/source/Sam_Barlow_High_School) in [Gresham, Oregon](/source/Gresham%2C_Oregon). After graduation, he attended [Arizona Western College](/source/Arizona_Western_College) in [Yuma, Arizona](/source/Yuma%2C_Arizona), but later transferred to the [University of Oregon](/source/University_of_Oregon) in [Eugene, Oregon](/source/Eugene%2C_Oregon). The [Portland Thunder](/source/Portland_Thunder), an expansion franchise in the [Arena Football League](/source/Arena_Football_League) (AFL), held open-tryouts on December 18, 2013, at the [Moda Center](/source/Moda_Center). Though born in the U.S., Tett qualifies as a national in the [Canadian Football League](/source/Canadian_Football_League) because his mother is a native of Courtenay, B.C., and he has held Canadian citizenship since he was six years old. 

On July 7, 2015, the Stampeders selected Brandon in the CFL Supplemental Draft.
