**Boxford Chalk Pit** is a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) geological [Site of Special Scientific Interest](/source/Site_of_Special_Scientific_Interest) in [Boxford](/source/Boxford%2C_Berkshire) in [Berkshire](/source/Berkshire).[1][2] It is a [Geological Conservation Review](/source/Geological_Conservation_Review) site.[3][4]

This site has a unique succession of tilted beds dating to the [Upper Cretaceous](/source/Upper_Cretaceous), between the late [Coniacian](/source/Coniacian) and the [Santonian](/source/Santonian), from around 87 to 84 million years ago. The beds are overlain by chalk which contains fractured and folded pieces of [hardground](/source/Carbonate_hardgrounds), which are interpreted as evidence of localised [tectonism](/source/Tectonism) unknown in the rest of Britain in this period. There are also [coprolites](/source/Coprolite) and many tiny fish teeth.[5]
