# Box Reef

**Box Reef** ([67°45′S 69°3′W / 67.750°S 69.050°W / -67.750; -69.050](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?pagename=Box_Reef&params=67_45_S_69_3_W_source:GNIS)) is a line of drying rocks lying between [Esplin Islands](/source/Esplin_Islands) and [League Rock](/source/League_Rock), off the south end of [Adelaide Island](/source/Adelaide_Island). The name, given by the [UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee](/source/UK_Antarctic_Place-Names_Committee) in 1963 in association with nearby [Cox Reef](/source/Cox_Reef), derives from *[Box and Cox](/source/Box_and_Cox_(farce))*, the well-known English literary allusion to two individuals who occupied the same lodgings alternately day and night without knowledge of each other.
