Prince '''Bounkhong''' was the last [uparaja](/source/uparaja) of [Luang Phrabang](/source/Luang_Phrabang). He was granted the title of ''[Chao Ratsaphakhinay](/source/Chao_Ratsaphakhinay)'' by [King Chulalongkorn](/source/King_Chulalongkorn) of Siam in 1884. Chao Maha Oupahat Bounkhong was the father of [Phetsarath](/source/Phetsarath), [Souvanna Phouma](/source/Souvanna_Phouma), [Souphanouvong](/source/Souphanouvong) and [Souvannarath](/source/Souvannarath).{{Sfn|Lee|2013|p=375}}  He died at Luang Phrabang on 26 July 1920, having had 11 sons and 13 daughters by 11 wives.
