**BornHack** (a [portmanteau](/source/Portmanteau) of "[Bornholm](/source/Bornholm)" and "[hack](/source/Hacker)") is an annual [hacker camp](/source/Computer_security_conference) on the Danish island of [Funen](/source/Funen), near [Gelsted](/source/Gelsted). From 2016 to 2018, it was organized on Bornholm.[2][3][4][5][6]

## History

In 2021, the BornHack [electronic badge](/source/Electronic_badge) was based on a [perfboard](/source/Perfboard) due to the [chip shortage](/source/2020%E2%80%93present_global_chip_shortage).[7] The 2021 camp was also captured in [Google Maps](/source/Google_Maps)' aerial pictures.[8]

In 2022, Thomas Flummer developed a badge based on the [RP2040](/source/RP2040), for which software can be developed in [CircuitPython](/source/CircuitPython).[9]

During BornHack there is a field specifically designed for loud [noise](/source/Noise), with a [noise barrier](/source/Noise_barrier) made from [soil](/source/Soil). A Dutch hacker brought an old [civil defense siren](/source/Civil_defense_siren) for testing purposes. Within a few minutes, four separate phone calls were made to the [Danish police](/source/Police_of_Denmark) from houses located a large distance from BornHack.[10]
