# Boris Ugrimov

Russian electrical engineer

**Boris Ivanovich Ugrimov** ([Russian](/source/Russian_language): Борис Иванович Угримов; 16 October 1872 [[O.S.](/source/Old_Style_and_New_Style_dates) 28 October] – 10 May 1941)[1] was a [Russian](/source/Russian_people) electrical engineer who played a significant role in the development of electrification in the [Soviet Union](/source/Soviet_Union).

## Early years

Boris was the elder brother of [Alexander Ugrimov](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Alexander_Ugrimov&action=edit&redlink=1) (1874-1974)[2] who became president of the [Moscow Society for Agriculture](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Moscow_Society_for_Agriculture&action=edit&redlink=1) before the [Bolshevik seizure of power in October 1917](/source/October_Revolution). Ugrimov graduated from the [Imperial Moscow Technical School](/source/Imperial_Moscow_Technical_School) in 1897.[1]

## GOELRO

Boris Ugrumov was one of the eight people appointed to lead the development of [GOELRO](/source/GOELRO), the State Commission for Electrification of Russia established on 27 February, 1920. He represented the [People's Commissariat of Agriculture](/source/People's_Commissariat_of_Agriculture).[2]
