**Boris Sergeevich Kashin** ([Russian](/source/Russian_language): Борис Сергеевич Кашин; born July 3, 1951, in [Moscow](/source/Moscow)) is a Russian mathematician,[1] Academician of the [Russian Academy of Sciences](/source/Russian_Academy_of_Sciences) (since 2011),[1] [Doctor of Sciences](/source/Doktor_nauk),[1] Professor at the [MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics](/source/MSU_Faculty_of_Mechanics_and_Mathematics).[1] Member of the [Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation](/source/Central_Committee_of_the_Communist_Party_of_the_Russian_Federation) since 2000.

He graduated from the [MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics](/source/MSU_Faculty_of_Mechanics_and_Mathematics) in 1973. And then entered to the [Steklov Mathematical Institute](/source/Steklov_Mathematical_Institute), where he currently works.[1]

In 1976 he defended his [Candidate](/source/Candidate_of_Sciences)'s Dissertation. In 1977 he defended his doctoral dissertation. In 1990 he received the title of Professor.

Member of the [Communist Party of the Soviet Union](/source/Communist_Party_of_the_Soviet_Union) since 1980. He was elected a corresponding member of the [Russian Academy of Sciences](/source/Russian_Academy_of_Sciences) in 1997.[1]

He is currently Editor-in-Chief of the journal *[Matematicheskii Sbornik](/source/Matematicheskii_Sbornik)*.[1]

In 2012, as a deputy of the [State Duma](/source/State_Duma), Kashin was among the initiators of the bill of the [Dima Yakovlev law](/source/Dima_Yakovlev_Law).[2]
