The **Borbera** (*Borbëa* in [Ligurian](/source/Ligurian_(Romance_language)) or *Borbaja* in [Piedmontese](/source/Piedmontese)) is a major *[torrente](/source/Torrent_(stream))* (a stream whose flow is marked by a high degree of seasonal variation) of the [Province of Alessandria](/source/Province_of_Alessandria) in the [Italian](/source/Italy) region [Piedmont](/source/Piedmont).

## Geography

It begins at an elevation of 1,700 metres (5,600 ft) on [Monte Chiappo](/source/Monte_Chiappo) and runs a course of 38 kilometres (24 mi) before flowing into the [Scrivia](/source/Scrivia) as its major [right tributary](/source/Right_tributary) at [Vignole Borbera](/source/Vignole_Borbera).
