Player of the Year](/source/Bootsy%3F_Player_of_the_Year)*, it held the #1 spot on the [R&B chart](/source/Hot_R%26B%2FHip-Hop_Songs) for one week in [1978](/source/1978_in_music), directly after fellow [P-Funk](/source/P-Funk) outfit [Parliament](/source/Parliament_(band))'s #1 hit "[Flash Light](/source/Flash_Light_(song))". ("Flash Light" was originally penned with [Bootsy Collins](/source/Bootsy_Collins) in mind for the lead vocal; however, Collins turned it down[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*].)
