**Boot Barn** is an American retailer that specializes in [Western wear](/source/Western_wear), [cowboy boots](/source/Cowboy_boot), [workwear](/source/Workwear), [home decor](/source/Interior_design), and other outdoor recreation merchandise.[1] The chain was founded by Ken Meany in 1978.[2]

## History

Boot Barn was founded by Ken Meany in 1978, with the first store being established in [Huntington Beach, California](/source/Huntington_Beach,_California).[3][4]

The company saw growth in the early 2000s, acquiring Sheplers and expanding to hundreds of stores across the United States.[5][6][7]

In October 2024, John Hazen was named as interim CEO to replace outgoing Jim Conroy. Also, board chairman Peter Starrett took on the role of executive chairman while the board conducts a search for the company's next CEO.[8]
