# Bomb shot

A **bomb shot**, **depth charge**, or **drop shot** (Canada) is a kind of [mixed drink](/source/Mixed_drink). A drink in a small glass (typically a [shot glass](/source/Shot_glass)) is dropped into a larger glass holding a different drink. The resulting cocktail is typically consumed as quickly as possible ("chugged").

## Preparation

A bomb shot typically consists of a [shot glass](/source/Shot_glass) of [hard liquor](/source/Distilled_beverage) that is dropped into a glass partially filled with beer but sometimes with some other beverage. Many variations exist. When the shot is dropped into a pint it is commonly known as a "depth charge", because it resembles [the anti-submarine weapon](/source/Depth_charge) being dropped on a target.[citation needed]

- [Flaming Doctor Pepper](/source/Flaming_Doctor_Pepper): a shot of [Amaretto](/source/Amaretto) and [Bacardi 151](/source/Bacardi_151) which is lit on fire and dropped into beer
- [Jägerbomb](/source/J%C3%A4gerbomb): a shot of [Jägermeister](/source/J%C3%A4germeister) dropped into a glass containing an [energy drink](/source/Energy_drink). Likewise, the *F-Bomb*—[Fireball Cinnamon Whisky](/source/Fireball_Cinnamon_Whisky) and [Red Bull](/source/Red_Bull).[1]
- [Irish car bomb](/source/Irish_car_bomb_(cocktail)): a shot glass containing 1⁄2 [Irish cream](/source/Irish_cream) and 1⁄2 [Irish whiskey](/source/Irish_whiskey) dropped into half a pint of [Guinness](/source/Guinness) stout
- [Sake bomb](/source/Sake_bomb): a shot of [sake](/source/Sake) dropped into beer
