**Bokapahari** is a village in [Dhanbad district](/source/Dhanbad_district), [Jharkhand](/source/Jharkhand) State, [India](/source/India). It is located over subsurface [coal fires](/source/Coal_fire), and residents make a living gathering and selling [coal](/source/Coal). The [Government of India](/source/Government_of_India) is trying to relocate them elsewhere, but most of the residents have refused to move, saying they would be unable to make a living elsewhere.[1]
