==History==
There are traces of an old [Kievan Rus'](/source/Kievan_Rus') settlement, including the remains of an ancient cemetery. The railway reached the town in the 1860s, after which it became a favourite resort for artists and writers, including the composer [Mykola Lysenko](/source/Mykola_Lysenko) and the writer [Sholom Aleichem](/source/Sholom_Aleichem). The fictional ''[dacha](/source/dacha)'' settlement of Boyberik, where events of Aleichem's tales of ''[Tevye the Milkman](/source/Tevye_the_Milkman)'' (later adapted as ''[Fiddler on the Roof](/source/Fiddler_on_the_Roof)'') take place, is based on Boiarka.<ref>Ivchenko (2007), p. 61</ref>

Formerly known as ''Boyarka-Budayivka'' ({{langx|uk|Боярка-Будаївка}}), the settlement became known as a base of [Sich Riflemen](/source/Sich_Riflemen) during the [Siege of Kyiv](/source/Anti-Hetman_Uprising) in 1918.<ref>{{Cite book|title=Енциклопедія українознавства. Until 18 July 2020, Boiarka belonged to [Kyiv-Sviatoshyn Raion](/source/Kyiv-Sviatoshyn_Raion). The raion was abolished that day as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Kyiv Oblast to seven. The area of Kyiv-Sviatoshyn Raion was split between [Bucha](/source/Bucha_Raion), Fastiv, and [Obukhiv Raion](/source/Obukhiv_Raion)s, with Boiarka being transferred to Fastiv Raion.<ref>{{Cite news|title=Про утворення та ліквідацію районів.
