# Boethous

In [Greek mythology](/source/Greek_mythology), **Boethous** (Ancient Greek: βοηθόος, *Boethoos*) or **Boethos** (βοηθὸς, βοηθός or βόηθος) was the [Lacedaemonian](/source/Sparta) son of the [Pelopid](/source/Pelops) [Argeios](/source/Argeus_(Greek_myth)) from [Pisa](/source/Pisa,_Greece) and princess [Hegesandra](/source/Hegesandra), daughter of King [Amyclas](/source/Amyclas_of_Sparta) of [Sparta](/source/Sparta).[1]

## Family

Boethoos was the brother of [Melanion](/source/Melanion_(mythology)) and [Alector](/source/Alector).[2] He was the father of [Eteoneus](/source/Eteoneus),[3] the man who helped [Odysseus](/source/Odysseus) to return home to [Ithaca](/source/Ithaca_(island)).
