'''Robert Paul Nonini''' (born August 7, 1954)<ref name="ISL">{{cite web |url= http://legislature.idaho.gov/house/membershipSingle.cfm?ID=45 |title= House Membership: Bob Nonini |publisher= [Idaho Legislature](/source/Idaho_Legislature) |location= [Boise, Idaho](/source/Boise%2C_Idaho) |accessdate= July 9, 2012 |archive-url= https://web.archive.org/web/20120501043819/http://legislature.idaho.gov/house/membershipSingle.cfm?ID=45 |archive-date= May 1, 2012 |url-status= dead }}</ref> is an American politician who was a Republican member of the [Idaho Senate](/source/Idaho_Senate) serving District 3 from 2012 to 2018. He previously served in the [Idaho State Representative](/source/Idaho_House_of_Representatives) from 2004 to 2012 representing District 5 in the A seat.<ref name="PVS">{{cite web |url= http://votesmart.org/candidate/biography/33177/bob-nonini |title= Representative Robert 'Bob' Paul Nonini's Biography |publisher= [Project Vote Smart](/source/Project_Vote_Smart) |accessdate= July 9, 2012}}</ref>

==Education==
Nonini graduated from Wallace High School and attended [North Idaho College](/source/North_Idaho_College).

==2018 Lieutenant Governor's race==
Nonini announced October 9, 2017 on social media that he will run for Lt. Governor of Idaho in [2018](/source/Idaho_elections%2C_2018). He filed with the Secretary of State's office October 10, 2017.<ref>{{Cite news|url=http://www.cdapress.com/article/20171010/ARTICLE/171019986|title=Nonini makes bid for Idaho lieutenant governor|date=2017-10-10|accessdate=2017-10-10|language=en}}</ref>

On March 3, 2018, Nonini reportedly nodded when asked at a candidates forum if the punishment for getting an [abortion](/source/Abortion_in_the_United_States) should include the [death penalty](/source/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_States). However, he has denied ever having nodded in agreement. "Prosecutions have always been focused on the abortionist," he said later, but such a law and "...the threat of prosecution, would dramatically reduce abortion. That is my goal."<ref>{{cite web |last=Sinclair |first=Harriet |title=Death penalty for abortions would be good deterrent for women, says Republican Candidate |work=[Newsweek](/source/Newsweek) |date=March 4, 2018 |accessdate=March 4, 2018 |url=http://www.newsweek.com/death-penalty-abortions-would-be-good-deterrent-women-says-republican-871319}}</ref>

Nonni drew 15% of the primary election vote, placing fourth among Republicans seeking the office.<ref name=results18>{{cite news |url=https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/05/15/us/elections/results-idaho-primary-elections.html |title=Idaho Primary Election Results |newspaper=The New York Times |date=May 17, 2018 |access-date=May 30, 2018 |first1=Sarah |last1=Almukhtar |first2=Wilson |last2=Andrews |first3=Matthew |last3=Bloch |first4=Jeremy |last4=Bowers |first5=Tom |last5=Giratikanon |first6=Jasmine C. |last6=Lee |first7=Paul |last7=Murray }}</ref>
