**Blue Triangle** is a bus operator brand under **London General Transport Services Limited**,[1] [trading as](/source/Trading_as) **Go-Ahead London**. It is a subsidiary of [Go-Ahead London](/source/Go-Ahead_London) and operates services in [East London](/source/East_London) under contract to [Transport for London](/source/Transport_for_London). It is the operator of the [East London Transit](/source/East_London_Transit) system.

In August 2002, Blue Triangle took over [route 185](/source/London_Buses_route_185) at short notice after London Easylink ceased trading.[2]

On 29 June 2007, Blue Triangle was purchased by the [Go-Ahead Group](/source/Go-Ahead_Group).[3] The sale included eight [Transport for London](/source/Transport_for_London) and nine [Essex County Council](/source/Essex_County_Council) routes and approximately 60 buses, but not the charter fleet which were retained by Roger Wright trading as The London Bus Company.[4]

#### History

In May 2016 a new garage opened on River Road in [Barking](/source/Barking%2C_London). It initially opened with an allocation of 22 buses to operate [route 147](/source/London_Buses_route_147) but has a capacity for 155 buses. It was built on the site of a former [Ford](/source/Ford_of_Britain) commercial vehicle sales and repair site.[6][7] In July 2016, all of the routes and buses from Rainham garage were transferred.[8]

Henley Road garage operates routes [5](/source/London_Buses_route_5), [15](/source/London_Buses_route_15), [69](/source/London_Buses_route_69), [115](/source/London_Buses_route_115), [129](/source/London_Buses_route_129), [330](/source/London_Buses_route_330), [376](/source/London_Buses_route_376), [473](/source/London_Buses_route_473), [474](/source/London_Buses_route_474), [D3](/source/London_Buses_route_D3), [N15](/source/London_Buses_route_N15) and [SL4](/source/London_Buses_route_SL4).[9]

Rainham garage operated routes [167](/source/London_Buses_route_167), [193](/source/London_Buses_route_193), [300](/source/London_Buses_route_300), [347](/source/London_Buses_route_347), [362](/source/London_Buses_route_362), [364](/source/London_Buses_route_364), [368](/source/London_Buses_route_368), [376](/source/London_Buses_route_376), [462](/source/London_Buses_route_462), [498](/source/London_Buses_route_498), [608](/source/London_Buses_route_608), [646](/source/London_Buses_route_646), [648](/source/London_Buses_route_648), [649](/source/London_Buses_route_649), [650](/source/London_Buses_route_650), [651](/source/London_Buses_route_651), [652](/source/London_Buses_route_652), [656](/source/London_Buses_route_656), [667](/source/London_Buses_route_667), [674](/source/London_Buses_route_674), [679](/source/London_Buses_route_679), [686](/source/London_Buses_route_686), [EL1](/source/London_Buses_route_EL1), [EL2](/source/London_Buses_route_EL2) and [W19](/source/London_Buses_route_W19).[10] On 27 June 2015, route 498 passed to [Stagecoach London](/source/Stagecoach_London).[11] In July 2016 the garage was announced closed with all operations transferred to River Road garage.[8]

## Previous routes operated

- [Route 372](/source/London_Buses_route_372) was won on a temporary contract as part replacement for route 324 which ran between [Romford Market](/source/Romford_Market) and [Bluewater Shopping Centre](/source/Bluewater_(shopping_centre)). Blue Triangle was awarded the temporary contract using four second hand [Plaxton Pointer](/source/Plaxton_Pointer) bodied [Dennis Darts](/source/Dennis_Dart). In March 2004, Blue Triangle retained the contract for another five years. This route has since passed to [Stagecoach London](/source/Stagecoach_London).[12]

- In 2001 Blue Triangle commenced operating [route 248](/source/London_Buses_route_248). In September 2008, the passed to [Stagecoach London](/source/Stagecoach_London).[13]

- [Route 375](/source/London_Buses_route_375) was won on a temporary contract as a part replacement to Essex County Council route 500, which was withdrawn between [Ongar](/source/Ongar%2C_Essex) and Romford, Transport for London stepped in with this replacement service using just one bus. On 4 July 2009 this passed to [Arriva Kent Thameside](/source/Arriva_Kent_Thameside).[14]

- In September 2003 Blue Triangle commenced operating [route 66](/source/London_Buses_route_66). In September 2010 this passed to [Arriva Southern Counties](/source/Arriva_Southern_Counties).[15]

- On 3 November 2007 Blue Triangle commenced operating [route 368](/source/London_Buses_route_368). On 26 March 2011 this passed to [First London](/source/First_London) but was re-acquired on 22 June 2013.[16]

- In September 2001 Blue Triangle commenced operating [route 648](/source/London_Buses_route_648). On 3 September 2011 this route passed to First London but was re-acquired on 22 June 2013.[17]

- In March 2012 Blue Triangle commenced operating [route 20](/source/London_Buses_route_20).[18]

## Special vehicles

Blue Triangle owned a number of special vehicles including an ex [Green Line](/source/Green_Line_Coaches) [AEC Routemaster](/source/AEC_Routemaster), ex London Routemasters and [AEC Regent III RTs](/source/AEC_Regent_III_RT) for use on charter duties. These vehicles were not included in the sale to Go-Ahead Group and remain in the ownership of Roger Wright's London Bus Company.[19]

## Fleet

As at May 2015, Blue Triangle's London services had a peak vehicle requirement of 131 buses.[10]
