**Blon** (Belarusian: Блонь; Russian: Блонь; Polish: *Błoń*) is an [agrotown](/source/Agrotown_(Belarus)) in [Pukhavichy District](/source/Pukhavichy_District), [Minsk Region](/source/Minsk_Region), [Belarus](/source/Belarus). It serves as the administrative center of Blon [selsoviet](/source/Selsoviet).[1]

## History

Historically Blon (Błoń) belonged to [Igumensky Uyezd](/source/Igumensky_Uyezd) in the [Russian Empire](/source/Russian_Empire), which was earlier part of [Minsk Powiat](/source/Minsk_Powiat) in the [Grand Duchy of Lithuania](/source/Grand_Duchy_of_Lithuania). It is associated with [Jesuit priest](/source/Jesuit_priest) and poet [Józef Baka](/source/J%C3%B3zef_Baka), who established there a Jesuit monastery in about 1745 and a wooden church of [John the Baptist](/source/John_the_Baptist) around 1748. After his death, it was passed to the Jesuit order, and after the [suppression of the Jesuits](/source/Suppression_of_the_Jesuits) the properties were seized by a [Poniński](/source/Poni%C5%84ski) and later passed to [Ossowskis](/source/Ossowski) of [Dołęga coat of arms](/source/Do%C5%82%C4%99ga_coat_of_arms).[2] In 1863, they were [sequestrated](/source/Sequestration_(law)) as a punishment for taking part in the [January Uprising](/source/January_Uprising), and in 1868, they were sold to a civil official, Bończ-Osmołowski (Иосиф Александрович Бонч-Осмоловский), from which lands the properties of *włościans* ([włościanin](https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/w%C5%82o%C5%9Bcianin), a land-owning peasant) were separated, leaving about 2,250 [morgen](/source/Morgen) of arable land.[3]
