**Black Swan Network** is a [musical side project](/source/Side_project) of [the Olivia Tremor Control](/source/The_Olivia_Tremor_Control). With contributions from [Neutral Milk Hotel](/source/Neutral_Milk_Hotel) members [Jeff Mangum](/source/Jeff_Mangum) and [Julian Koster](/source/Julian_Koster), as well as individual contributions from [J. Kirk Pleasant](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=J._Kirk_Pleasant&action=edit&redlink=1) of [Calvin, Don't Jump!](/source/Calvin%2C_Don't_Jump!) and [fablefactory](/source/Fablefactory)'s [Roxanne Martin](/source/Roxanne_Martin), it was intended to be an experimental project in [ambient music](/source/Ambient_music). After their releases, the band members became busier with their other projects, and Black Swan Network appears to be on permanent hiatus.

## Releases

Black Swan Network released one full-length album on [Camera Obscura](/source/Camera_Obscura_(record_label)) and two [EPs](/source/Extended_play).

The full-length album, *[The Late Music](/source/The_Late_Music)*, was born out of a small message hidden in the liner notes of the Olivia Tremor Control's *[Music from the Unrealized Film Script, Dusk at Cubist Castle](/source/Music_from_the_Unrealized_Film_Script%2C_Dusk_at_Cubist_Castle)*, requesting that people submit recordings of dream descriptions to the band. The album consisted of seven untitled pieces incorporating the submissions with different other ambient sounds and musical fragments.
