'''Black Pyramid Rock''' is an island [nature reserve](/source/nature_reserve), with an area of 40 [ha](/source/hectare), in [Bass Strait](/source/Bass_Strait), south-eastern [Australia](/source/Australia). It is part of [Tasmania](/source/Tasmania)’s [Hunter Island Group](/source/Hunter_Island_Group) which lies between north-west Tasmania and [King Island](/source/King_Island_(Tasmania)). It is part of the [Albatross Island](/source/Albatross_Island_(Tasmania)) and Black Pyramid Rock [Important Bird Area](/source/Important_Bird_Area). Apart from the gannets, breeding [seabird](/source/seabird)s and [shorebird](/source/shorebird)s include [little penguin](/source/little_penguin), [short-tailed shearwater](/source/short-tailed_shearwater), [fairy prion](/source/fairy_prion) (up to 340,000 breeding pairs),<ref name=iba/> [common diving-petrel](/source/common_diving-petrel) (up to 200,000 breeding pairs),<ref name=iba/> [Pacific gull](/source/Pacific_gull), [silver gull](/source/silver_gull) and [sooty oystercatcher](/source/sooty_oystercatcher).
