# Billy Page

**William E. Page II**, better known as **Billy Page**, was an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for writing "[The 'In' Crowd](/source/The_'In'_Crowd_(song))", which was a 1965 hit for both [Dobie Gray](/source/Dobie_Gray)[1] and the [Ramsey Lewis Trio](/source/Ramsey_Lewis). The song was also a 1974 hit for [Bryan Ferry](/source/Bryan_Ferry).[2]

Other songs he wrote include "[A House Built on Sand](/source/A_House_Built_on_Sand)", a 1968 hit for [Leslie Uggams](/source/Leslie_Uggams); "[Sugar Lump](/source/Sugar_Lump)", a 1974 hit for [Leon Haywood](/source/Leon_Haywood); and "[Midnight and You](/source/Midnight_and_You)" (co-written with his brother [Gene Page](/source/Gene_Page)), a 1974 hit for [Solomon Burke](/source/Solomon_Burke). Page also produced his brother Gene's [musical score](/source/Film_score) for the 1972 film *[Blacula](/source/Blacula)*.[3]
