# Bill Ligon

**William Norman Ligon** (May 19, 1952 – June 11, 2024) was an American professional basketball [shooting guard](/source/Shooting_guard) who played one season in the [National Basketball Association](/source/National_Basketball_Association) (NBA) as a member of the [Detroit Pistons](/source/Detroit_Pistons) during the 1974–75 season. The Pistons drafted him from [Vanderbilt University](/source/Vanderbilt_University) during the tenth round (175th pick overall) of the [1974 NBA draft](/source/1974_NBA_draft). He worked as an [attorney](/source/Attorneys_in_the_United_States), specializing in [criminal defense](/source/Criminal_defense) and [litigation](/source/Litigation).[1] He died in [Gallatin, Tennessee](/source/Gallatin,_Tennessee) on June 11, 2024, at the age of 72.[2]
