# Beverly Peele

**Beverly Peele** (born March 18, 1975) is an American model and [actress](/source/Actress). Peele rose to fame in the late 1980s and 1990s, and appeared on over 250 fashion magazine covers.[1]

## Career

Peele was born in [Los Angeles, California](/source/Los_Angeles,_California) and began modeling in 1987 at age 12. She attended [Hawthorne High School](/source/Hawthorne_High_School_(California)) in [Hawthorne, California](/source/Hawthorne,_California) from 1989-1991. In 1989, she landed her first magazine cover, on *[Mademoiselle](/source/Mademoiselle_(magazine))*, becoming the first non-white model to appear on that magazine's cover.

During her modeling career, she was featured in ads for the likes of [Ralph Lauren](/source/Ralph_Lauren), [Donna Karan](/source/Donna_Karan) and [Versace](/source/Gianni_Versace_S.p.A.). Peele has appeared on magazine covers worldwide including *[Vogue](/source/Vogue_(magazine))*, *[Mademoiselle](/source/Mademoiselle_(magazine))*, *[Elle](/source/Elle_(magazine))*, and *[Cosmopolitan](/source/Cosmopolitan_(magazine))*.[2][3] She also did runway work for, among others, [Chanel](/source/Chanel), [Balenciaga](/source/Balenciaga), [Todd Oldham](/source/Todd_Oldham), [Calvin Klein](/source/Calvin_Klein), [Oscar de la Renta](/source/Oscar_de_la_Renta), [Perry Ellis](/source/Perry_Ellis) and [Comme des Garçons](/source/Comme_des_Gar%C3%A7ons). While still a teen-ager, she famously closed [Versace](/source/Gianni_Versace) fashion shows.

Peele appeared in [Heavy D & the Boyz](/source/Heavy_D_%26_the_Boyz)'s music video for "Nuttin' but Love," Jodeci's 1995 video "Freakin You", and [George Michael](/source/George_Michael)'s [Thierry Mugler](/source/Thierry_Mugler)-styled "[Too Funky](/source/Too_Funky)" video alongside [Nadja Auermann](/source/Nadja_Auermann), [Tyra Banks](/source/Tyra_Banks), [Linda Evangelista](/source/Linda_Evangelista), [Estelle Hallyday](/source/Estelle_Hallyday), and [Rossy de Palma](/source/Rossy_de_Palma).[2][4] In 1997, she began acting and appeared in *[Sister, Sister](/source/Sister,_Sister_(TV_series))* [Season 5, Episode 1: Designer Genes] and *[Girlfriends](/source/Girlfriends_(U.S._TV_series))*. Peele also had a role in the 2002 film *Sweet Friggin' Daisies* with [Zooey Deschanel](/source/Zooey_Deschanel).

## Personal life

In 1994, Peele had a daughter named Cairo with her then-husband Jeffrey Alexander. She had a son Trey in 2004, a son DJ in 2011, and a daughter Storm in 2017.[5] Cairo, DJ, and Storm appeared with Peele on the Lifetime docuseries *[Growing Up Supermodel](/source/Growing_Up_Supermodel)*.[6]

In 2021, Peele alleged that [Peter Nygård](/source/Peter_Nyg%C3%A5rd) was the father of Trey, who she said was conceived after Nygård sexually assaulted her.[7][3] An attorney for Nygård denied the allegation.[8] When Nygård was jailed after multiple women accused him of sexual assault, Peele went public with problems arising from the fact that his child support payments had stopped.[9]
