'''Bert H. Soper''' (15 March 1884 &ndash; 2 July 1968) was a [Canadian](/source/Canadians) businessman and politician. Soper served as a  [Liberal party](/source/Liberal_Party_of_Canada) member of the [House of Commons of Canada](/source/House_of_Commons_of_Canada). He was born in [Frankville, Ontario](/source/Elizabethtown-Kitley%2C_Ontario) and became a merchant by career.

Soper became director of Allan Soper and Company, a coal sales company. He was also involved with Smiths Falls Malleable Castings Ltd.<ref name=CPG />

He was first elected to Parliament at the [Lanark](/source/Lanark_(federal_electoral_district)) riding in the [1940 general election](/source/1940_Canadian_federal_election) after unsuccessful campaigns there in [1930](/source/1930_Canadian_federal_election) and [1935](/source/1935_Canadian_federal_election). Soper was defeated in the [1945 election](/source/1945_Canadian_federal_election) by [William Gourlay Blair](/source/William_Gourlay_Blair) of the [Progressive Conservative party](/source/Progressive_Conservative_Party_of_Canada).
