**Ellsworth Elmer "Bert" Cunningham** (November 25, 1865 – May 14, 1952), was an American [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) from 1887 to 1901. He played for the [Brooklyn Grays](/source/Brooklyn_Grays), [Baltimore Orioles](/source/Baltimore_Orioles_(19th_century)), [Philadelphia Athletics](/source/Philadelphia_Athletics_(1890%E2%80%9391)), [Buffalo Bisons](/source/Buffalo_Bisons_(PL)), [Louisville Colonels](/source/Louisville_Colonels), and [Chicago Orphans](/source/Chicago_Orphans).

On September 15, 1890, while playing for Buffalo in the [Players' League](/source/Players'_League), Cunningham threw five [wild pitches](/source/Wild_pitch) in one inning. This record was tied in a 2000 playoff game by [St. Louis Cardinals](/source/St._Louis_Cardinals) pitcher [Rick Ankiel](/source/Rick_Ankiel), but still stood in 2007.[1]

In 1996, Cunningham was inducted into the [Delaware Sports Museum and Hall of Fame](/source/Delaware_Sports_Museum_and_Hall_of_Fame).[2]
