**Bernard O'Shea** is an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) [comedian](/source/Comedian)[1] from [Durrow](/source/Durrow%2C_County_Laois), [County Laois](/source/County_Laois), [Ireland](/source/Ireland).[2] He co-hosted [RTÉ 2FM](/source/RT%C3%89_2FM)'s *[Breakfast Republic](/source/Breakfast_Republic)* with [Jennifer Zamparelli](/source/Jennifer_Zamparelli) and [Keith Walsh](/source/Keith_Walsh).[3] He made his name on the satirical sketch TV show *[Republic of Telly](/source/Republic_of_Telly)*.

O'Shea started in entertainment at an early age, playing [traditional Irish music](/source/Traditional_Irish_music) and touring Europe with several groups. At college he studied theatre and starred in several theatrical productions. He worked in the National Theatre of Ireland, the [Abbey Theatre](/source/Abbey_Theatre). He won the Harp Newcomer Comedy Award in 2000 and performed in the BBC Newcomer Awards the same year. He was chosen to perform in the [Montreal](/source/Montreal) *[Just for Laughs](/source/Just_for_Laughs)* comedy festival in 2005 and also The Kilkenny [Cat Laughs](/source/Cat_Laughs) festival in 2005 and 2006. He wrote *TJ and TJ* sketches on [Today FM](/source/Today_FM).
