Born in [Luxemburg](/source/Luxemburg%2C_Wisconsin), [Kewaunee County, Wisconsin](/source/Kewaunee_County%2C_Wisconsin), Hahn went to public school. He moved with his parents to [Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin](/source/Sturgeon_Bay%2C_Wisconsin) where they owned a hotel. Later, Hahn built the first opera house in Sturgeon Bay. Hahn was a farmer and grew fruit. He lived in [Fish Creek](/source/Fish_Creek%2C_Wisconsin), [Door County, Wisconsin](/source/Door_County%2C_Wisconsin). Hahn served in the [Wisconsin State Assembly](/source/Wisconsin_State_Assembly) and was a [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)). Hahn died in a hospital in [Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin](/source/Sturgeon_Bay%2C_Wisconsin) from complications after surgery. In 1931, Hahn was charged with arson for setting fire to his personal property; the arson case ended when he died.<ref>Fred L. Holmes (ed.).
