**Berkhamsted Football Club** is a [football](/source/Association_football) club from [Berkhamsted](/source/Berkhamsted), [Hertfordshire](/source/Hertfordshire), England. Founded in 2009 after [Berkhamsted Town](/source/Berkhamsted_Town_F.C.) folded, they are currently members of the [Southern League](/source/Southern_Football_League) Premier Division South and play at Broadwater.

## History

The club was founded in 2009 after [Berkhamsted Town](/source/Berkhamsted_Town_F.C.) folded, taking the name of a club that had played in the [Herts County League](/source/Hertfordshire_Senior_County_League) in the early 20th century.[2] They joined Division Two of the Spartan South Midlands League, winning it in their [first season](/source/2009%E2%80%9310_Spartan_South_Midlands_Football_League) and earning promotion to Division One.[3] The [following season](/source/2010%E2%80%9311_Spartan_South_Midlands_Football_League) they won Division One with 107 points and were promoted to the Premier Division.[3] Their points total was the highest in the [National League System](/source/National_League_System) and saw the [Herts FA](/source/Hertfordshire_County_Football_Association) award the club the Stanley Rous Memorial Trophy.[4]

The 2012–13 season saw Berkhamsted win the St Mary's Cup, beating [Tring Athletic](/source/Tring_Athletic_F.C.) 3–1 in the final.[5] In [2014–15](/source/2014%E2%80%9315_Spartan_South_Midlands_Football_League) they won the Premier Division Cup, beating [Colney Heath](/source/Colney_Heath_F.C.) 5–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw.[6] The club won the [Herts Charity Shield](/source/Herts_Charity_Shield) in 2016–17 with a 3–2 win over [Tring Athletic](/source/Tring_Athletic_F.C.) in the final.[7] In [2017–18](/source/2017%E2%80%9318_Spartan_South_Midlands_Football_League) the club were runners-up in the Premier Division, earning promotion to Division One East of the [Southern League](/source/Southern_Football_League). They were top of the league after 28 games in [2019–20](/source/2019%E2%80%9320_Southern_Football_League) when the competition was abandoned due to the [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic_in_the_United_Kingdom).

Berkhamsted were Division One Central runners-up in [2021–22](/source/2021%E2%80%9322_Southern_Football_League), but lost to [North Leigh](/source/North_Leigh_F.C.) in the play-off semi-finals. However, the [following season](/source/2022%E2%80%9323_Southern_Football_League) saw them win the division, earning promotion to the Premier Division Central.[8] In [2023–24](/source/2023%E2%80%9324_Southern_Football_League) they finished bottom of the Premier Division Central and were relegated back to Division One Central.[9] In [2024–25](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_Southern_Football_League) the club were runners-up in Division One Central. They went on to beat [Hadley](/source/Hadley_F.C.) 5–0 in the play-off semi-finals and then won the final against [Flackwell Heath](/source/Flackwell_Heath_F.C.) by the same scoreline, securing promotion to the Premier Division South.

## Ground

The club play at Broadwater, located between the [Grand Union Canal](/source/Grand_Union_Canal) and the [West Coast Main Line](/source/West_Coast_Main_Line). The ground has two seated stands on one side of the pitch, with an uncovered terrace adjacent to it. There is also covered terracing behind both goals.[10]
