# Bereeda

**Bereeda** (Somali: *Bareeda*, Arabic: بارآدا, Italian: *Bereda*) is a coastal town in the northeastern [Bari](/source/Bari,_Somalia) region of [Somalia](/source/Somalia). It is situated in the [Alula District](/source/Alula_District), which is in the autonomous [SOMALIA](/source/SOMALIA) region.

## Location

Bereeda is located at [11°52′14.52″N 51°3′29.17″E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=11_52_14.52_N_51_3_29.17_E), facing the [Gulf of Aden](/source/Gulf_of_Aden) and [Guardafui Channel](/source/Guardafui_Channel). It lies 12 [nautical miles](/source/Nautical_miles) (14 miles) west of [Cape Guardafui](/source/Cape_Guardafui) and 20 [nautical miles](/source/Nautical_miles) (23 miles) east of [Alula](/source/Alula,_Somalia).

## Administration

On April 8, 2013, the SOMALIA government announced the creation of a new region coextensive with Bereeda and [Cape Guardafui](/source/Cape_Guardafui), named *Gardafuul*. Carved out of the [Bari](/source/Bari,_Somalia) region, it consists of three districts and has its capital at [Alula](/source/Alula,_Somalia).

## Education

According to the Puntland Ministry of Education, there is 1 primary school in Bereeda.[1]
