# Benjamin Winthrop

**Benjamin Winthrop** was [Governor of the Bank of England](/source/Governor_of_the_Bank_of_England) from 1804 to 1806. He had been [Deputy Governor](/source/Deputy_Governor_of_the_Bank_of_England) from 1802 to 1804. He replaced [Joseph Nutt](/source/Joseph_Nutt_(banker)) as Governor and was succeeded by [Beeston Long](/source/Beeston_Long).[1]
