**Ben Nicky** is a British disc jockey and [electronic dance music](/source/Electronic_dance_music) record producer. Known as a [trance music](/source/Trance_music) DJ, Nicky's music often covers other styles and genres.

## Biography

Nicky is from [Bristol](/source/Bristol), England, and started his DJ career in 2007.[2][3] In 2011 his track with Cass Fox, "The One", was highlighted as a memorable tune by [Mixmag](/source/Mixmag), with his work also becoming noticed by other artists including [Paul van Dyk](/source/Paul_van_Dyk), [Tiësto](/source/Ti%C3%ABsto), and [Armin van Buuren](/source/Armin_van_Buuren).[4] By 2012 he was a "rising star", including supporting [BBC](/source/BBC) DJ [Dave Pearce](/source/Dave_Pearce) at club nights.[5] In 2013 he started the *Head F**k* label, releasing "mash up" tracks. In 2016 the [DJ Mag](/source/DJ_Mag) magazine, in a review of a live gig, stated Nicky was a "future king" of trance.[1][6]

His style of music has been described as somewhat fluid, encompassing [trance](/source/Trance_music), [techno](/source/Techno), [hardstyle](/source/Hardstyle), and bounce. Nicky is also known as a "bad boy of dance", following a quote by fellow disc jockey and producer [Armin Van Buuren](/source/Armin_Van_Buuren).[7][8] Nicky has regularly played live at events and festivals, including [Belsonic](/source/Belsonic) and [Creamfields](/source/Creamfields).[9][10] In May 2019 he made his debut on the [BBC Radio 1](/source/BBC_Radio_1) [Essential Mix](/source/Essential_Mix) show, performing for a two-hour session.[11] That same year Nicky was nominated for a [DJ Award](/source/DJ_Award) in the Trance category.[12]

In 2021 Nicky bought a house in Northern Ireland.[13]
