# Bemerton Rectory

**Bemerton Rectory** is a [Grade II* listed](/source/Grade_II*_listed) rectory in Lower Road in the [Bemerton](/source/Bemerton) suburb of [Salisbury](/source/Salisbury), Wiltshire, England. It dates from 1470.[1] It was the home of [George Herbert](/source/George_Herbert), who died there in 1633.[2] Indian novelist and poet [Vikram Seth](/source/Vikram_Seth) currently resides in the house,[3] having bought and renovated it in 1996.
