**Isobel Lucia Freud** (born 17 April 1961), is a London-based [fashion designer](/source/Fashion_designer).[2] Her work is known for its playful and often humorous use of language.[3] She is the daughter of the painter [Lucian Freud](/source/Lucian_Freud) and [great-granddaughter](/source/Freud_family) of [Sigmund Freud](/source/Sigmund_Freud), the founder of [psychoanalysis](/source/Psychoanalysis). She is also famous for her podcast, [Fashion Neurosis](/source/Fashion_Neurosis).

## Life and career

Freud was born in [London](/source/London), England. She is the daughter of Bernardine Coverley and artist [Lucian Freud](/source/Lucian_Freud), and the [great-granddaughter](/source/Freud_family) of the inventor of [psychoanalysis](/source/Psychoanalysis), [Sigmund Freud](/source/Sigmund_Freud). Her maternal grandparents were [Roman Catholics](/source/Roman_Catholics) of Irish descent, but her mother was no longer observant, while her father's family were [Jewish atheists](/source/Jewish_atheists). She identifies as Jewish.[4][5]

Her sister is [Esther Freud](/source/Esther_Freud), who wrote the memoir of their hippie childhood in [Morocco](/source/Morocco), *[Hideous Kinky](/source/Hideous_Kinky)*.

Freud was married to journalist [James Fox](/source/James_Fox_(journalist)) in 2001. They have a son. The couple separated in 2017.[6]

In October of 2024, Freud launched her fashion podcast *[Fashion Neurosis](/source/Fashion_Neurosis)*, beginning with an episode with American fashion designer [Rick Owens](/source/Rick_Owens).[7]
