Belinda Berlinda of Meerbeke Pronunciation /bəˈlɪndə/ Gender Feminine Origin Word/name Italian Meaning Beautiful Other names Related names Bindy, Linda, Melinda

**Belinda** is a feminine [given name](/source/Given_name) of unknown [origin](/source/Etymology), apparently [coined](/source/Coining_(linguistics)) from [Italian](/source/Italian_language) *bella*, meaning "beautiful".[1] Alternatively it may be derived from the [Old High German](/source/Old_High_German) name *Betlinde*, which possibly meant "bright [serpent](/source/Lindworm)" or "bright linden tree".[2]
