**Befasy** is a town and commune ([Malagasy](/source/Malagasy_language): *kaominina*) in [Madagascar](/source/Madagascar). It belongs to the [district](/source/Districts_of_Madagascar) of [Morondava](/source/Morondava_District), which is a part of [Menabe Region](/source/Menabe_Region). The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 15,000 in 2001 commune [census](/source/Census).[2]

Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The majority 99% of the population of the commune are farmers. The most important crops are [maize](/source/Maize) and [lima beans](/source/Lima_bean), while other important agricultural products are [peanuts](/source/Peanut) and [rice](/source/Rice). Services provide employment for 1% of the population.[2]
