# Barry Gjerde

**Barry Gjerde** (born 13 August 1951)[4] is a Norwegian voice actor who has worked for many years in Japan.[5] He has mostly narrated various corporate projects and providing English [voice acting](/source/Voice_acting) for video games.

## Career

Gjerde is best known for his voicing of the character [Barry Burton](/source/Barry_Burton) in the original version of *[Resident Evil](/source/Resident_Evil_(1996_video_game))*.[5] He also provided the voice of Rick in the game *[Clock Tower](/source/Clock_Tower_(1996_video_game))*. In *[Mega Man X7](/source/Mega_Man_X7)* he provided the voice of [Red](/source/Red_(Mega_Man)), a rival Maverick hunter.[6]

Gjerde also played guitar and did vocals for a band called "Hotel No-Tell" with Ian MacDougall (vocals, guitar), Tom Gottsman (bass guitar, vocals), Jon MacKenzie (vocals, bass guitar), and John Boudreau (drums). They released an [extended play](/source/Extended_play) in 1989.[7]
